The Black Lives Matter Foundation, the non-profit arm of the Black Lives Matter movement, received almost $16 million in government grants in 2019. In short, American taxpayer dollars went to a violent, Marxist movement which caused at least $600 million in damages in 2020.

The Washington Free Beacon reported that the foundation received taxpayer-funded grants through a dark money group called the Tides Center. Previously, the foundation used Thousand Currents to act as a “fiscal sponsor” to hide its donors and be its financial arbiter. It moved its money from Thousand Currents in 2019 to the Tides Center. Both the Tides Center and Thousand Currents withhold disclosures about grants or donors, outside of government grants, which is known as a “dark money” organization.

In total, the Tides Center has received at least $170 million in government grants since 2001. It means that taxpayer dollars are funding left-wing and radical causes. The Free Beacon noted that the Tides Center receives funding from George Soros’s Open Society Foundations, among other leftist foundations.

As Accuracy in Academia reported in October 2020, the Tides Center hosts a Black Lives Matter Support Fund, which supported “BLM’s grantmaking activities. This unique partnership will further amplify the extraordinary, unparalleled successes of BLM’s chapter-led, decentralized organizational model, while also allowing BLM to build the necessary infrastructure for sustainability.”

Black Lives Matter is notorious for espousing anti-police and ‘defund the police’ rhetoric, organizing allegedly-peaceful protests that later devolved into violent and destructive nighttime riots, and seeking to abolish the nuclear family.
