#ATLisReady, “a collective of student activists, community organizers, and leaders working to amplify Black and other marginalized voices in Atlanta,” published several demands including a call for the city’s police department to exit the Georgia International Law Enforcement Exchange (GILEE).

The GILEE program creates the opportunity for Israeli and Georgian police to learn from each other by providing an “educational professional program to senior Israeli law enforcement officials in Georgia, primarily in the area of community policing,” and “an educational professional program to senior Georgia law enforcement officials in Israel, primarily in the areas of counter-terrorism and drug interdiction.”

#ATLisReady referred to the state of Israel as an “Apartheid Israel” in its demand.

Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed declared that he will not meet #ATLisReady’s demand, stating, “I happen to believe that the Israeli police department has some of the best counterterrorism techniques in the world and it benefits our police department from that longstanding relationship…”

Accuracy in Academia recently reported that the Movement for Black Lives and Black Lives Matter also harbor anti-Israel sentiments.
